Traveling in the Twin Cities Metro District
The MnDOT Metro District plans, designs, constructs and maintains the highways within Anoka, Carver, Chisago, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey, Scott and Washington counties. The Twin Cities, located within the Metro District, represent slightly less than half of the state's total population and between 2000 and 2030, growth in this area is expected to generate 15 million trips and 86 million vehicle-miles traveled per day. In addition to the highways, Metro District provides transit, trail and rail transportation services.
