MnDOT to host June 28 open house in Lester Prairie for Hwy 7 roundabout project
WILLMAR, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation invites the public to attend an in-person construction open house on Wednesday, June 28, to learn about the upcoming Highway 7 roundabout project near Lester Prairie. The open house will be held from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. at Lester Prairie City Hall, 37 Juniper St. N.
There are no formal presentations and people are invited to stop by at their convenience during open house hours. MnDOT staff and the contractor will be available to answer questions about the construction phase of the project, including the timeline and detours.
Traffic impacts
A detour is required to complete the project. The detour of Highway 7 is scheduled to be in place for the project’s duration and there will be separate detours for vehicle and semi traffic. Several safety enhancements are planned as part of the vehicle detour route in Lester Prairie. The enhancements are temporary and will be removed once the project is complete and the detour is removed.
About this project
MnDOT, in partnership with McLeod County, is building a roundabout at the intersection of Highway 7 and County Road 1 near Lester Prairie. Work includes the addition of a multiuse trail on all sides of the roundabout.
Construction gets underway July 17 and is scheduled for an October completion.
