Northbound I-35W closure between Hwy 62 and 40th Street in Minneapolis begins Friday, June 7

ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Beginning at 11 p.m. Friday, June 7 through 6 p.m., Saturday, June 8, the Minnesota Department of Transportation will close northbound I-35W in Minneapolis between Highway 62 and 40th Street. This road closure is necessary so crews can remove a large crane that has been used as part of the I-35W storm water storage tank project. Motorists will be detoured using Highway 62, Highway 169 and I-694.

All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather and schedule permitting and subject to change. The Minnesota Department of Transportation urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution, and slowdown in work zones where workers are present.

MnDOT is constructing six underground storm water storage tanks east of I-35W in Minneapolis between 42nd St. and 40th St. The tanks will help reduce flooding by collecting and storing excess storm water while the drainage system catches up, and then release the water gradually through drainage pipes to the Mississippi River.

For more information, including the construction schedule, visit the 35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown project webpage.
