Rescheduled: Weekend closure of I-35W in Bloomington and Richfield begins August 11

ROSEVILLE, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation has postponed the closures of northbound and southbound I-35W in Bloomington and Richfield due to inclement weather. These closures, originally scheduled to begin tonight, Friday, August 4, will now begin Friday, August 11.

Starting at 10:00 p.m. Friday, August 11 through 5:00 a.m. Monday, August 14, southbound I-35W will be closed between Highway 62 and 106th St. All southbound ramps between Highway 62 and 106th St. will also be closed. This is the last of three weekend closures of southbound I-35W between I-494 and I-35E as part of the I-35W in Bloomington project .

through 5:00 a.m. Monday, August Northbound I-35W between 106th St. and I-494 will also be closed overnight from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. on Saturday, August 12 and Sunday, August 13. These northbound closures are necessary so crews on the I-494 Edina to Richfield project can build bridge piers in the median of I-35W, complete utility work, and begin permanent ramp construction.

While these closures are in place, motorists using northbound I-35W will be detoured to I-35E to Hwy 77 to Hwy 62. Motorists traveling on southbound I-35W will be detoured to I-35E.

Motorists are urged to plan ahead and allow extra time to reach their destination. All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather and schedule permitting and subject to change. MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution, and slowdown in work zones where workers are present.
