Periodic lane closures on Hwys 96 and 149 in the Twin Cities metro area begin Aug. 21

ROSEVILLE, Minn. – According to the Minnesota Department of Transportation, crews will conduct preventative maintenance work on Highway 96 and Highway 149 in the Twin Cities metro area from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, beginning Monday, Aug. 21.

The work will primarily be done under traffic using periodic lane closures controlled by flaggers to direct motorists through the work zone in the following locations:

  • Highway 96 between Highway 61 in White Bear Lake and Highway 244 in Dellwood
  • Highway 149 between Interstate 494 in Mendota Heights and Smith Avenue in St. Paul

The repair work is expected to be complete by Monday, Aug. 28. However, once the pavement sets, the contactor will return in mid-September to put down the new permanent road markings.

All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather dependent and subject to change. MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution and slow down in work zones where workers are present.
