Rescheduled: Weekend closure of I-35W in Richfield and Bloomington begins Sept. 8

ROSEVILLE, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation has rescheduled the weekend closure of northbound and southbound I-35W in Richfield and Bloomington, originally scheduled to begin tonight, Fri., Aug. 25. These closures are now scheduled to begin Fri. Sept. 8, as MnDOT crews complete work building bridge piers in the median of I-35W, completing utility work, and beginning permanent ramp construction.

Northbound I-35W weekend closure
Starting at 10 p.m. Fri., Sept. 8, northbound I-35W will be closed between I-494 and 78th St through 5 a.m. Mon., Sept. 11. The following ramps will also be closed:

Eastbound I-494 to northbound I-35W
Northbound I-35W to westbound I-494
82nd St. to northbound I-35W

Southbound I-35W weekend closure
Starting at 10 p.m. Fri., Sept. 8, southbound I-35W will be closed between Hwy 62 and I-494 through 5 a.m. Mon., Sept. 11. All ramps to/from southbound I-35W between Hwy 62 and I-494 will also be closed during this time.

While these closures are in place, motorists using northbound I-35W will be detoured to I-494 to Hwy 77 to Hwy 62 Motorists traveling on southbound I-35W will be detoured to Hwy 62 to Hwy 100 to I-494.

Motorists are urged to plan ahead and allow extra time to reach their destination. All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather and schedule permitting and subject to change. MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution, and slowdown in work zones where workers are present.
