Highway 95/Main Street in Stillwater reopens Friday morning, September 15

ROSEVILLE, Minn. – As work winds down on the new Chestnut Street Plaza in downtown Stillwater, the two-block stretch of Highway 95 (Main Street) between Myrtle Street and Olive Street in Stillwater will reopen to traffic around 8 a.m. Friday, Sept. 15, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation. During the two-month closure, crews installed new water mains and storm sewer utilities, upgraded sidewalks and crossings to meet ADA (Americans with Disabilities) standards and installed a new signal system at the intersection of Highway 95 and Chestnut Street.

Construction of the city of Stillwater’s new pedestrian/bicycle plaza between the west end of the Stillwater Lift Bridge and Highway 95 in downtown Stillwater is complete and open to the public. The plaza features plantings, landscaping, concrete block pavers, new sidewalks and lighting.

This project was a collaborative effort between MnDOT and the city of Stillwater. Thank you to downtown businesses, residents and visitors for their patience during construction.
