Milaca community invited to Hwy 23 project open house Sept. 26
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation invites the community to attend a public open house to learn about plans to improve Highway 23 through Milaca, Mille Lacs County, on Tuesday, Sept. 26.
The meeting will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Milaca Public School, 500 Highway 23, in Milaca. Guests will have the opportunity to visit with project staff, ask questions and view design layouts. The event is drop-in style to better fit individual schedules. Guests may arrive and leave at their convenience.
In 2027, MnDOT will reconstruct and improve Highway 23 from the Rum River bridge to 105th Avenue. Crews will:
- Reconstruct the road and improve access from east of the Rum River bridge to 105th Avenue (Mille Lacs County Road 2), includes approaches
- Remove signal and install roundabout at Highway 23 and Central Avenue South (Mille Lacs County Road 36)
- Add new multi-use trail along the north side of the project corridor, includes new sidewalk from Third Avenue Southwest to Fifth Avenue
