Highway 9/Main Avenue in Barnesville to reopen Friday evening

DETROIT LAKES, Minn. –Highway 9/Main Avenue in Barnesville is expected to reopen to all traffic by the evening of Friday, Sept. 22, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Crews are currently wrapping up work on the Highway 9 reconstruction project. In the upcoming weeks, motorists should watch for workers along the roadside as cleanup and other miscellaneous work is completed.

Barnesville residents and commuters should also be aware of several traffic changes that have taken place in downtown Barnesville, including a new four-way stop at the intersection of Main Avenue and Front Street. Please travel with care.

Highway 9 in Barnesville has been closed in phases since June while MnDOT reconstructed Highway 9 in Barnesville, from Fourth Street/railroad crossing west on Main Avenue to Interstate 94. Crews resurfaced Highway 9, replaced underground utilities and sidewalks, added turn lanes at County Road 55 north of Barnesville, and constructed a shared-use path from Main Avenue to Highway 34.
