Construction begins on third lane for Highway 10 in Coon Rapids
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – As preliminary tree and brush removal wraps up this week, construction on a new third lane in each direction of Highway 10 between Round Lake Boulevard and Hanon Boulevard begins Sunday evening, March 30, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation. As construction begins, crews will widen the ramps and the shoulders at eastbound Round Lake Blvd and westbound Main Street, to carry traffic during the project.
The ramp from northbound Round Lake Blvd to eastbound Highway 10 will close from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. nightly through Thursday morning, April 3. The ramp from Main St. to westbound Highway 10 also will close nightly from 7 p.m. to 9 a.m. from Sunday, March 30 through Thursday, April 3. During the overnight closures, traffic will follow signed detours using Round Lake Blvd and Main St. to reach Highway 10.
Once widening of the ramps and shoulders is completed at each location, traffic will be shifted to the outside lane and shoulder of the highway in each direction on Monday, April 7. At the same time, the loop from southbound Round Lake Blvd to eastbound Highway 10 will close until mid-October.
Traffic will be maintained two lanes in each direction during the work, although there will be some temporary shoulder and lane closures. And ramps at Round Lake Blvd, Main St. and Hanson Blvd will close at various times during the project.
The majority of work will be completed by mid-October 2025 but the roadway will receive a thin coating of asphalt and new striping in the spring of 2026, before the end of May.
All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather and schedule permitting and subject to change.
