I-494 closed, detoured in Inver Grove Heights July 25-28
Beginning at 10 p.m. Friday, July 25, I-494 will be closed in both directions between Blaine Avenue and Babcock Trail, including all Hwy 52 clover-leaf ramps to I-494. All I-494 lanes, and two ramps, will reopen at5 a.m. Monday, July 28.
During the weekend closure, the detour for motorists traveling westbound on I-494 is northbound Hwy 52 to Mendota Road to southbound Hwy 52 to westbound I-494 as a detour.
The detour for motorists traveling on eastbound I-494 is southbound Hwy 52 to eastbound 70th Street to northbound Hwy 52 to eastbound I-494 as a detour.
This closure is necessary as crews continue redecking the bridges and paving ramps on Hwy 52 over I-494.
After July 28, traffic will be head-to-head on the new southbound Hwy 52 bridge between Upper 55th Street and Mendota Road/Southview Boulevard. Also, the eastbound I-494 to northbound Hwy 52 and northbound Hwy 52 to westbound I-494 ramps will remain closed through September.
All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather and schedule permitting and subject to change.
MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution, and slow down in work zones where workers are present.
