U.S. Coast Guard
Function
As one of our nation’s five military services, the US Coast Guard exists to defend and preserve the United States by protecting the personal safety and security of our people, the marine transportation system and infrastructure, our natural and economic resources, and the territorial integrity of our nation from all internal and external threats, whether those threats are natural or man-made. This agency reviews and comments on National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documents for projects that may impact navigable waters of the United States.
