New roundabout open in north Buffalo
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation and Wright County are excited to announce the new single-lane roundabout at Highway 25 and County Road 83 (35th Street NE) in north Buffalo is open to all travelers.
The Highway 25 detour between Monticello and Buffalo was lifted and be removed on Saturday, Oct. 5. Motorists may encounter periodic lane or shoulder closures as crews finish up any work.

The first Minnesota modern roundabout was constructed in 1995. Since then, roundabouts have been built across the state by MnDOT, counties and cities. As of October 2024, there were more than 530 roundabouts on all roads.
        Driving tips on navigating roundabouts:
- Slow down when approaching a roundabout.
- Yield to pedestrians and bicyclists in the crosswalk.
- Yield to vehicles already in the roundabout.
- Continue through the roundabout until you reach your exit.
- Exit the roundabout immediately if an emergency vehicle approaches, and then pull over.
- Give large trucks/vehicles extra space in a roundabout.
Wright County led the construction of the new roundabout at County Road 83 (35th Street NE) that will improve overall access, safety and traffic flow at this busy intersection. To learn more about the benefits of roundabouts in Minnesota, visit https://mndot.gov/roundabouts/.
