Hwy 23 has reopened from Pipestone to Holland as resurfacing and bridge project ends
WILLMAR, Minn. – Highway 23 has reopened from Pipestone to Holland as the resurfacing and bridge project nears completion, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation. The detour and all barriers have been removed.
Although Highway 23 has reopened to traffic, travelers should be alert for workers and equipment completing clean up tasks. Crews may also return early next spring to finish punch list items under traffic.
Project summary
MnDOT resurfaced 30 miles of Highway 23 with asphalt, from Pipestone to Russell. A culvert was replaced near Florence, and additional culverts were lined along the project corridor. In addition, the bridge deck east of the Highway 23 and Highway 75 intersection in Pipestone was replaced.
Benefits of the project include a smoother road surface and improved drainage. Central Specialties is the contractor, and the project cost is approximately $11.2 million.
