MnDOT to host May 22 open house for Highway 200 project near Itasca State Park
Bemidji,  Minn. – The public  is invited to attend a public open house on May 22 at Itasca State Park  Visitor’s Center to learn about this summer’s construction plans for Highway  200, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation. 
        
People can drop by from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 22 at the Itasca State Park Visitor’s Center, 36750 Main Park Drive, Park Rapids. No formal presentation is planned. People can come and go on their schedule. If you attend the meeting, you can talk with project managers, ask questions and receive information about the project.
Beginning July 8, a MnDOT contractor will be resurfacing Highway 200 from Clearwater County Road 2 to Highway 71 near the Itasca State Park. The project also includes culvert and guardrail replacements. The project is expected to be complete late-August, weather permitting.
Highway 200 between  Clearwater County Road 2 and Highway 71 will be detoured during construction,  but residents and businesses will be able to access their properties. Thru  traffic will not be allowed to ensure safety of the workers. Thru traffic will  be detoured onto Hubbard County  Roads 3 and 9, as well as Clearwater County Roads 2, 40 and 37. 
        
The  North and East entrances of the Itasca State Park will remain open throughout  construction.
