Nightly closures of I-35W in Burnsville begin August 18
ROSEVILLE,  Minn. – Crews will close both directions of  Interstate 35W between I-494 and the I-35/I-35E/I-35W split nightly beginning  Monday, Aug. 18, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation. 
          
Beginning  at 9 p.m., Monday, August 18, I-35W will be closed in both directions between  I-494 and the I-35/I-35E/I-35W split. Crews will reopen I-35W at 5 a.m.,  Tuesday, Aug. 19. Then, I-35W will close again at 9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19 and  reopen by 5 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20. 
          
During  these closures, motorists traveling northbound on I-35 can use northbound I-35E  to northbound Highway 77 to westbound I-494 to northbound I-35W, and motorists  traveling on southbound I-35W can use eastbound I-494 to southbound Highway 77  to southbound I-35E to southbound I-35 as a detour.
          
These  closures are necessary for crews to install beams for the Burnsville Parkway  bridge. 
          
Beginning  at 5 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19 crews will close the ramp from eastbound Highway 13  to southbound I-35W, the ramp from southbound I-35W to westbound Highway 13,  and the ramp from southbound I-35W to County Road 42. The Highway 13 ramps will  be closed through September, and the County Road 42 ramp will be closed through  October.
          
During these closures, motorists should use the following detours:
- Eastbound Highway 13 ramp to southbound I-35W
- Detour: Westbound Highway 13 to southbound County Road 5 to eastbound County Road 42 to southbound I-35E
- Southbound I-35W ramp to westbound Highway 13
- Detour: Southbound I-35W to westbound Burnsville Parkway to northbound County Road 5 to westbound Highway 13
- Southbound I-35W ramp to County Road 42
- Detour: Southbound I-35W to westbound Burnsville Parkway to southbound County Road 5 to County Road 42, or southbound I-35 to westbound County Road 46 to northbound Buck Hill Road to westbound Southcross Drive to northbound County Road 5 to County Road 42
All  construction activities and traffic impacts are weather and schedule permitting  and subject to change. 
          MnDOT  urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution, and slow down in  work zones where workers are present.
