Highway 14-Memorial Parkway traffic signal changes begin April 7 in Rochester

ROCHESTER, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation will be modifying the traffic signal Tuesday, April 7 on Highway 14 at Memorial Parkway SW in Rochester near Apache Mall to improve safety of signal-directed left turns.

The work date depends on weather. Crews will be replacing signal heads, wiring and making changes in the signal cabinet. There will be lane and shoulder closures at times to complete the work. Motorists may experience short traffic delays.

The changes will result in only allowing protected left turns with a green arrow for motorists making left turns from Highway 14. The protected left turns are intended to improve safety at the intersection. Motorists making left turns from Memorial Parkway will still have a protected green arrow followed by a permissive green ball indication for left turns. MnDOT worked with the city of Rochester to determine the signal changes.
