Section of Arcade Street in St. Paul to close beginning April 6 for repairs
Final year of safety improvement project includes lane reductions on East 7th Street
ROSEVILLE, Minn.—Travelers on St. Paul’s East Side will encounter a closure on Arcade Street and lane reductions on East 7th Street beginning Monday, April 6, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation. Crews are starting the final year of a project that includes safety improvements and updates to outdated utilities, road surfaces and sidewalks on East 7th Street between I-94 and Minnehaha Avenue, and Arcade Street between Neid Lane and East 7th Street.
Starting Monday, April 6:
- Arcade Street will close between Neid Lane and East 7th Street through fall 2026.
- Detour: Case Avenue and Payne Avenue.
- East 7th Street between Minnehaha Avenue and Mounds Boulevard will be reduced to one lane in both directions through summer 2026.
- There will be no parking on East 7th Street during construction.
Travelers also should anticipate occasional weekend closures at the following intersections for major infrastructure updates in spring 2026:
- Arcade Street and Minnehaha Avenue.
- Arcade Street and East 7th Street.
- East 7th Street and Minnehaha Avenue.
All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather and schedule permitting, and subject to change.
Those who live or work near, or visit the project area can expect increased noise and vibration, along with heavier traffic and greater demand for parking on nearby side streets as road and sidewalk improvements progress.
MnDOT encourages motorists to:
- Be prepared and plan ahead.
- Follow posted detour and construction signs.
- Adhere to local laws and parking regulations.
