I-35W in Burnsville to close May 1-4 for bridge removal
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Interstate 35W will close in both directions between I-494 and the I-35E/I-35W split in Burnsville beginning at 9 p.m. Friday, May 1 through 5 a.m. Monday, May 4, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
All ramps on I-35W in both directions between I-494 and the I-35/I-35E/I-35W split will also be closed during this time.
This closure allows crews to safely remove the eastbound Highway 13 bridge, patch northbound I-35W and prepare for traffic shifts on I-35W.
During this weekend closure, motorists can use I-35, I-35E, Highway 77 and I-494.
This work is part of a larger project to resurface I-35W and repair or replace bridges between Cliff Road and the I-35E/I-35W spilt. Once completed, this stretch of I-35W will have a smoother road surface and an extended bridge and pavement life.
All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather and schedule permitting and subject to change.
MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution and slow down in work zones where workers are present.
