I-94 at Lowry Hill Tunnel in Minneapolis to close nightly May 18-19 for cleaning

ROSEVILLE, Minn. —Both directions of I-94 through the Lowry Hill Tunnel in Minneapolis will be closed overnight on Monday, May 18 and Tuesday, May 19 from 10 p.m. each night until 5 a.m. the following morning, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation. The closure will allow crews to conduct seasonal cleaning and other maintenance of the tunnel.

Westbound I-94 traffic will be detoured via the Hennepin Avenue/Lyndale Avenue South exit to Lyndale Avenue to I-94. Eastbound I-94 traffic will use the Lyndale Avenue South exit to I-94.

Additional ramp closures during this period include:

Northbound I-35W ramp to westbound I-94
Olson Memorial Highway/Highway 55 ramp to eastbound I-94
Eastbound I-394 ramp to eastbound I-94

All dates for the traffic impacts are tentative and weather dependent.

In addition to cleaning inside the Lowry Hill Tunnel to improve visibility and safety for motorists, crews also will remove accumulated debris, repair guardrails and more.
