Policy statement
MnDOT management fully adopts the Minnesota Clean Indoor Air Act (MCIAA) state law to “protect employees and the general public from the hazards of secondhand smoke by eliminating smoking in public places, places of employment, public transportation, and at public meetings.”
Reason for retiring the policy
MnDOT’s policy is a summary of state law Minnesota Statutes 144.411 to 144.417 (Minnesota Clean Indoor Air Act) and Minnesota Statute 16B.24, subdivision 9 which provides that all state-owned and leased buildings are to be smoke-free.
