About the project
Construction on Hwy 87 between Hwy 71 and Hwy 64 will take place in 2024 and 2025. It is split into 3 different sections, and each one has their own fix.
The center portion will take place in 2024, and the western/eastern sides in 2025.
Center section (2024 construction)
Hubbard to Third Crow Wing Lake
- Reconstruct Hwy 87
- Widen shoulders
Traffic impacts
Beginning mid May, 2024, motorists will experience a detour as Stage 1 of the project begins. Staging information and detour routes are subject to change. Estimated durations and detour routes are as follows:
Stage 1
- Detour: Hubbard CR 17, Hubbard CR 20, Hubbard CR 13
- Work to complete: grading, aggregate base
- Duration: mid May – early August
Stage 2
- Detour: Hwy 87, Hwy 71, Hwy 34, Hubbard CR 20, Hubbard CR 17, Hubbard CR 13, Hwy 87
- Work to complete: grading, aggregate base
- Duration: early August – late August
Stage 3
- Detour: Hubbard CR 20, Hwy 34, Hubbard CR 33, Hwy 64
- Work to complete: grading, aggregate base
- Duration: late August – mid September
Stage 4
- Detour: No detour. lane closures with flagger/pilot car
- Work to complete: bituminous surfacing, shouldering, signing
Western section (2025 construction)
Hwy 71 to Hubbard
- Urban reconstruct in Hubbard
- Rural reconstruct, shoulder widening
- Culvert replacement at Long Lake
