About this project
Summary of MnDOT work

- MnDOT is reconstructing Highway 19/College Drive from 700 ft west of Marlene St through the intersection of Bruce Street in the City of Marshall.
- The City of Marshall is replacing sanitary sewer and water main utilities.
- A single-lane roundabout will be constructed at the intersection of Highway 19/College Drive, Country Club Drive, and South 2nd Street.
- An EV Charging Station will be installed in the Avera parking lot.
- Sidewalk improvements will be made along the project area to improve accessibility.
- Several traffic control changes throughout the route will be made to enhance safety.
- A bike lane will be striped from Marlene St. to just west of Fairgrounds Rd.
- Trees will be replanted in the fall of 2026(PDF). Tree selections can be viewed here(PDF), please note, these are subject to change.
Project update: May 22, 2026
Memorial Day weekend:
- Crews will stop work at 5:00 p.m. (or earlier if weather changes) on Fri., May 22. Work will start again Tues., May 26, at 7:00 a.m.
Work zone: Main Street to Liberty Park Bridge
- Dirt work is finished from Lyon Street to Marshall Street.
- Gravel base is placed from Lyon Street to Marshall Street.
- Utility crews have finished their work from Main Street to Marshall Street.
- All required cleanup of older building materials is done.
- The concrete panels leading up to the Liberty Park Bridge were planned to be poured on Thu., May 21.
- Crews are installing curb and gutter between Lyon Street and Marshall Street.
- Sidewalk accessibility work is underway between Lyon Street and Marshall Street.
- this work helps make sidewalks and crossings easier and safer for people using wheelchairs, walkers, strollers, or anyone with mobility or vision challenges.
- Street-light electrical work underground is underway between Lyon Street and Main Street.
- Concrete paving of the road was scheduled for Fr., May 22 but will happen next week due to the rain in the forecast.
Work zone: Main Street/ East College Drive intersection (Hwy 19/Hwy 59/Hwy 68)
- Detours for Hwy 59 and Hwy 68 started Mon., May 18. The Hwy 19 detour is in place for the duration of the project.
- Pavement has been removed.
- The old traffic signal has been taken down.
- Old sewer pipes have been removed and news ones installed along Main Street.
- Dirt work is finished.
- Remaining cleanup of older materials should be completed on Thu., May 21.
- Gravel base is planned to be finished by the end of the day, Thu., May 21.
Work zone: Bruce Street/ Highway 19 intersection
- Utility work continues.
- Temporary water lines are set up for property owners who will be impacted.
- New concrete sewer parts have arrived and are sitting near the intersection.
Work zone: Legion Field Bridge to Main St.
- Finishing work is underway.

- Curb and gutter installation will continue.

- Curb and gutter installation will start.

- Traffic signal electrical work underground will start.
- Traffic signal foundation work will start.
Bruce Street/ Highway 19 intersection
- The Bruce Street Intersection will close Tues., May 26.
- Pavement removal is planned to be completed.
- Groundwater monitoring tools (piezometers) will be removed.
- these tools measure water levels underground so crews can work safely.
- The traffic signal will be removed.
- City streetlights will be removed in the work area.
- Watermain removal and installation will be begin.
Legion Field Bridge to Main Street on Highway 19 (year 1 project area)
- Crews will finish remaining small items.
Traffic access and impacts
- The Bruce St. / East College Dr. intersection will be closed starting Tues., May 26.
- Main St. to Liberty Park Bridge on Hwy 19 is closed.
- thru traffic must use the detour on Lyon CR 7 and Hwy 23.
- Main St./Hwy 19 intersection is closed.
- Thru traffic should use CR 33 and Hwy 23
- W. Redwood St. will be open for crossing at Hwy 19 is open.
- Hwy 19 is open to local traffic from N. 3rd Street. to Bruce Street.
- W. Lyon St., and W. Marshall St. are closed at Highway 19.
- Alleys between W. Lyon St. and W. Redwood St., and between W. Redwood St. and W. Marshall St. are closed at Highway 19.
- Businesses within the work zone remain open.
- Addison Public Parking Lot is open.
- Please watch for pedestrians.
