History and significance
The Nicollet Avenue Bridge is a reinforced-concrete, continuous, open-spandrel arch bridge designed in the Melan form by bridge engineer Kristoffer Olsen Oustad. It was built in 1923 and carries Nicollet Avenue over Minnehaha Creek and the Minnehaha Parkway. The bridge is significant as a typological example of a Melan form open spandrel bridge, and as a contributing structure to the Washburn Park Historic District.
