History and significance

Bridge L3942 is a steel, three-panel, half-hip, Pratt pony truss resting on concrete abutments with flared wingwalls. The bridge is located in rural southwestern Crow Wing County. It is no longer in service, but it previously carried a minimum-maintenance road over the Nokasippi River. It was constructed by the Security Bridge Company for the County in 1908 and is significant for its association as a surviving example of the company’s design of a pin-connected, half-hip, Pratt pony truss.
