MnDOT to host April 30 open house for Highway 87 project in Hubbard

BEMIDJI, Minn. – The public is invited to attend a public open house on April 30 in Hubbard to learn about this summer’s construction plans for Highway 87 Hubbard, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

People can drop by from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 30 at the Hubbard Community Center, 12141 Co. 6. No formal presentation is planned. People can come and go on their schedule. If you attend the meeting, you can talk with project managers, ask questions and receive information about the project.

Beginning May 19, a MnDOT contractor will be reconstructing Highway 87 from Highway 71 to east of Hubbard. The project also includes grading, replacing culverts, curb and gutter in Hubbard and a box culvert replacement at Long Lake.

Highway 87 between Highway 71 and east of Hubbard will be detoured during construction, but residents and businesses will be able to access their properties. Thru traffic will not be allowed to ensure safety of the workers. Thru traffic will be detoured onto Hubbard County Road 20 and Highways 34 and 71. The project is expected to be complete mid-October, weather permitting.

A nearby project on Highway 87 will also be constructed later this summer. The eastern project includes resurfacing and culvert replacements from Hubbard CR 13 to Highway 64. This project will take place August through September 2025.
