Hwy 169 Cold In-Place Recycle

Chisholm to Mt. Iron

Traffic Impacts

Initial bridge repair work will start on April 29 on both bridges over Mineral Avenue/St. Louis County Road 102 in Mountain Iron. Motorists on Highway 169 can expect a right lane closure in each direction through May 14.

Beginning in mid-May, pavement work will begin and reduce the roadway to one lane in each direction. Reduced lane widths and work zone speed limits will be in effect.  Construction on Highway 169 will continue through September 2024.

Future traffic impacts

  • Single-lane closures along Hwy 169 mainline throughout construction
  • Temporary closure of County Road 64 and County Road 102.
  • Detours will be in place during these closures

Public Meetings

A public meeting to discuss construction impacts will be held on Tuesday, May 7 at 5 p.m. at the MnDOT Virginia Headquarters building (101 North Hoover Road, Virginia, MN 55792). Information presented will be put on this website following the meeting.
