- Hwy 55 is reduced to one lane in both directions between Hwy 100 and Penn Ave. North
- Left turns onto Hwy 55 are restricted at Dahlberg Dr., Meadow Ln. North and Theodore Wirth Pkwy in the project area
- Detour: Right turn onto Hwy 55 and use the next available intersection to make a U-turn in the direction you need to travel
- Left turns onto Hwy 55 are restricted at Dahlberg Dr., Meadow Ln. North and Theodore Wirth Pkwy in the project area
Trail impacts

- Trails in the area are still open however crossing is restricted at Dahlberg Dr., Meadow Ln North and Theodore Wirth Pkwy.
- Detour: Walkers and bikers can cross Hwy 55 using the trail under the Hwy 55 bridge over the BNSF railroad

About this project
We will be repaving Hwy 55 between Thomas Ave. in Minneapolis and Hwy 100 in Golden Valley and making repairs to the bridge over the BNSF railroad that runs near Theodore Wirth Regional Park. This work is necessary to maintain the infrastructure and to make accessibility improvements.
Summary of work
- Repaving Hwy 55 between between Thomas Ave. in Minneapolis and Hwy 100 in Golden Valley
- Accessibility improvements and sidewalk reconstruction
- Revising left turn lane at Dahlberg Dr. to improve safety by constructing a raised median
- Constructing an alternative Luce Trail Route
- Repairing the BNSF bridge, with removal and replacement of the bridge overlay, among other repairs including widening the sidewalk and major joint repair due to rust
- Constructing side path and trail on the north side of Hwy 55 between Shaper Rd. and Theodore Wirth Pkwy.
- Repairing and reconstructing drainage
