About this project
Hwy 47 project location map.
We are working to make University Ave. N.E./Hwy 47 from Central Ave. S.E. to 27th Ave. N.E. in Minneapolis safer and easier to use. We want to make sure everyone can use University Ave. safely and comfortably, whether they walk, roll, ride a bike, use public transit, or drive a truck or other vehicle.
We will ask for community feedback about proposed changes developed based on recent studies, including the Hwy 47/65 Planning and Environmental Linkages (PEL) study. This input is needed to understand what improvements should be made to University Ave. N.E.
The goal of this project is to create one proposed design layout for University Ave. N.E. Once developed, we will seek funding to make road improvements along with our local partners.

Summary of work
- Repave Hwy 47 (University Ave.) between Hwy 65 (Central Ave.) and just south of 27th Ave. NE
- Update sidewalks, intersections and crossings to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
- Repair drainage
- Other improvements to be developed during the project’s public engagement and design process
- Replace guardrail
