Improvements at Highway 60 and 3rd Street NE in Faribault begin May 12
FARIBAULT, Minn. – Improvements at the Highway 60 (1st Avenue NE) and 3rd Street NE intersection in Faribault are scheduled to begin May 12 and are expected to be completed by July 3, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.This work includes replacing the traffic signal, converting Highway 60 from a 4-lane to a 3-lane road, adding a pedestrian crossing on the south approach at 2nd Street/Heritage Place and making accessibility improvements.
Traffic impacts
Highway 60 traffic at 3rd Street NE will travel in single lanes beginning May 12 and a four-way stop sign will be in place. When construction occurs on the east side of the intersection, 3rd Street NE will remain open. Once work is completed on the east side of the intersection, crews will start working on the west side of the intersection, and 3rd Street NE will close west of the intersection and vehicles will be detoured .
Additional project work
Work at Highway 60 and Western Avenue in Faribault started on April 28, and it will be completed by July 3. It includes replacing the traffic signal, expanding Western Avenue southbound to include left and right turns, converting Western Avenue northbound to left turn and thru/right lanes, adding pedestrian crossings on south, west and north approaches, upgrading the median and making accessibility improvements.
