Background
The new Lafayette Bridge, opened in 2015, expanded NB Hwy 52 from two lanes to three lanes. That bridge replacement project did not explicitly focus on revising this interchange area, but did complete changes to the ramp connections to WB I-94, EB I-94, and West 7th St.
- MnDOT updated pavement markings on the Lafayette Bridge in 2020.
- MnDOT completed the Congestion Management Safety Plan Phase 4 in 2020.
- MnDOT installed a new dynamic message sign on NB Hwy 52 near the Concord St. interchange south of the bridge in 2022. The new sign provides lane guidance and alerts drivers to slow traffic and congestion on the northbound bridge.
